Reply with quote | #1 | I had to cover the the tomato plants and the impatiens and bring in the potted geraniums the last two nights. Frost on May 18 and May 19 around here. -- I could understand if we lived in Michigan but this should not happen in West Virginia. I remember that it snowed on my wife's birthday ( May 19 ) when we lived in Lansing, Michigan.

Reply with quote | #2 | Me too Ben. I brought plants in the house and covered others. Many leaves on my black elephant ear got burned. I covered it with only one sheet and it was so cold that the next night I used 2 sheets. brrrrrrrrr
I'm hoping that was the end of it but it did go down to 30°!!!!! |

Do you remember about 4 weeks ago we had several days in a row of 80's and even 90 degrees. The soil warmed up and I thought it was time to plant the green beans. They rotted in the ground -- never came up ! I re-planted three rows yesterday -- hope to have better luck. Of course, we will not have beans until almost August.
Covered the tomatoes the last two nights and they seem to be OK -- don't you just love to garden !!! Fighting with the frost , the deer and the rabbits !! --- Ben

Reply with quote | #4 | I was surprised when my scarlet runner beans popped up.
I'm sorry about your beans. I love to make fresh green beans with ham and little red new potatoes in it. YUM You'll just be making them a little later.
I am so sore from this past weekend that even my hair hurts. LOL |
